Brand Identity
Brand Identity is possibly one of the most important aspects is the music industry as that is what will attract your target audiences and make those audiences fans of the artists work.
This is why Danny and Rosie had to think a long time about brand identity, we decided to create the music video first and come to the digi pack and website later on, when editing the final music video we decided to place black and white filters on the start and end of the video then a hyper real pink and orange colour grade on the scenes by the sea side, this worked well as it separated the reality and hyper reality aspects in our video.
When creating the digi pack we decided to keep the same theme of black and white and few parts in colour this meant one the digi pack was complete we placed a black and white filter over the whole thing and used an eraser to erase the filter on the specific parts that we wanted to stay in colour, meaning it fit with the music video really well.
This meant when creating the website we had to keep the same theme of black and white and few parts in colour, this makes the whole thing look very professional as it flows the same theme through all of our aspects of creating and image and brand identity for the artist.

Final Digi-Pack
We decided to use a black and white filter then erase the filter on the artists face to reveal the colour underneath, we chose to do this as it fits in well with the music video and also the website the black and white theme with few parts in colour. The frame comes from one of the artists songs called 'In a Frame' it highlights the vanity of our target audience as they are typically self obsessed and after research into our target audience and Simons followers on Twitter, Facebook, SoundCloud and Instagram many of his followers take a lot of 'Selfies' We decided to not put a title on the final front cover as we feel the image of the artists alone is powerful enough and very eye catching it intrigues audiences making them want to pick the CD up and either listen or buy.
The frame and photo of the hand writing were taken by Rosie we wanted a victorian themed frame so go with the style of simons followers who are very interested in vintage fashion, this meant we had to find a old fashioned frame, this took Danny and Rosie into the local town into one of the charity shops and we found the frame used above, Rosie is also taking photography as an ALEVEL so she took the photos of these items.
The Album covers below belong to Kanye West (Yeezus), Arctic Monkeys (AM) and Ed Sheerans (Plus), all of these albums gave us the inspiration to not use a title on the front cover as the images are interesting and powerful enough on their own, so we DELIBERATELY did not put a title or artist name on the front cover.

Final Website
The final website uses one of the images that we took on shoot as the background, we then used the colour scheme of greys and whites as we felt it wasn't too plain and simple but it was still eye-catching enough to draw the viewers attention.
We kept the banner simple, but made sure it was interesting. The website includes many different aspects that we felt needed to be on the home page.
The latest video, the one we created is on the top on the website page we thought that having this on the home page would be something interactive for the audience to engage in.
We also included a news feed and twitter feed so Simon's audience and fans can be kept updated and know whats going on.
Down the right hand side of the web page we included a link to itunes and Simon's twitter this would help the artist link and connect to his audience. Down the right hand side we also included a small tab with his tour dates on, the places he will be playing at the beginning of 2014.
On the left hand side we incorporated the front cover of the latest album and a small bio of what simon is doing and his latest work, we decided to put this in a frame to link the digipack to the website.
At the bottom of the site we added a moving gallery, which included images of Danny, our posed artist.
Website contribution
As i had the main job of editing the music video, Rosie started off editing the website in order to get things done efficiently. Once i had finished we swapped she started the colour grading and i finished and improved the website.
Firstly i took a look at the font that had been used on the banner, one of the main things i noticed is that the particular font that was used is not available in Photoshop or Microsoft word, this meant that our digi-pack would not link to the website, in order to solve this i created a font in Photoshop then captured it and placed in on to the banner of the website. I kept the colour scheme the same and everything else that had been done was consistent so i started to fill the empty space.
Down the right hand side of the website i decided to add 'Tour Dates' this is something that is very common on websites and would be needed. As Simon Stirling is a unsigned artist i had to ensure that the locations i picked where suitable. Again i made sure the font and colour scheme was consistent.
I then had a thought that adding a gallery at the bottom of the page would be interesting and something interactive for the audience to look at. I gathered photos that had already been taken and i got Rosie to take some new ones of me, the artist, and then added them to a turing galley.
There was a small section down the left hand side of the website that needed to be filled, after looking at the digi-pack, music video and rest of the website i decided to incorporate the frame. We decided to use the frame as it shows the artist looking at himself, finding who he is and being free this is the message we was trying to sell. To start with i added a small bio and then placed it inside the same frame that was used within digi-pack. The colour of the frame ties in with the colour scheme of e website so it looked eye-catching when all together.Also down the left hand side i decided to add in the front cover of the album cover, this is to promote and sell the latest album that Simon will be releasing, most artist (if they have a new one out) will add and promote the album on their website, adding text explaining that it is the latest album.

Digi Pack contributions
The digipack consists of 6 pages, me, rosie and layla split the work to two pages each, I have the front cover and a photo page, for this is will use an image that me and rosie took we went out on a mini-shoot and took some shots of me for the website and the digi pack.![]() |
When looking for inspiration, i found Scroobius Pip's book, on the cover he is biting a Polaroid of the same image, within the image is him biting the Polaroid, this theme of a photo within a photo would fit well to our target audience as the age group is very self obsessed and 'love a selfie' so having a photo of yourself within a photo of yourself ad so on would fit the audience perfectly and also work very effectively.
Here is the finished Front and back cover, i decided to put over a black and white filter to fit in with the colour scheme of our video and website, i then decided to erase the filter over my face so make it more outstanding and visually pleasing it also makes the artist more noticeable, the reason i decided to use the vintage photo frame was our target audience are very interested in vintage whether it be vintage fashion or vintage antiques it displays a deeper meaning then it first appears.
Final Music Video Contribution
Using the colour corrector on Final Cut i changed the colour grading of our video, as a group we decided that the scenes at the home would be shown in black and white, to do this i had to change the settings on the colour wheel above and ensure that the contrast was ok in the shots. With the rest of the footage, i changed it so it was ever so slightly pink, this gave it the hyper real feel that we was after.

This is the finished music video. I edited the rough edit with the feedback form the target audience, many people said the effects used in the rough cut were not effective so i changed a few things round and added more multi clips in the walking scenes, i then added some dissolve transitions to make the music video flow easier.

Final DigiPack Contributions
To start off the process, we worked out what was going where and who was going to do each panel. Below are two images, the first is a template that i sourced from the internet, this was to help us figure out the measurements and how we would fold it to create the digi pack. The second image is a break down of who is doing what slide. We all told each other our ideas to ensure that they all linked together, once we have the basic images done for the digi pack we are going to come together to link them all and ensure that the colour scheme is consistent through out.
I started off with my first panel, i got an image that we took from the shot and decided i would use this as part of the lyrics panel i was going to create, from looking at other digi packs i wanted to ensure that ours was all linked and interesting but not all of the same thing. Doing a lyrics page i found it quite hard, to start with i decided to use the lyrics from one song not random lyrics from different songs.
The image i started off with was the one below:
From this i added lyrics and a frame, that Danny had used on the front cover. The final outcome is shown below.
For the second panel i decided to use more of a close up of the artist so again i used a photo from the shot, this then fits in with the website and colour scheme. I then changed it so the background was black and white and the artist was in colour, i then added the frame around the image. The final outcome is below:
The frame was a idea of Danny's we decided that using a frame as one of the focal features as it symbolises the artist finding himself, the front cover Danny created was all about the artist looking at himself and finding who we was, the frame then went on through out our digi-pack (and website) in order to keep the theme consistent. We edited the photo of the frame to ensure the colour fitted in with our colour scheme. We also turned parts of the image we used black and white as we didnt want too many bright bold colours, we wanted the few colours we used to stand out and look interesting and eye-catching.
When creating the digi-pack me and Danny worked very closely, we helped each other out and communicated well so that our work was consistent and looked intriguing next to one another, we didn't want out pieces to be unlinked or not look interesting next to one another. We then took the same procedure when constructing the website.
FinalWebsite Inspirations
Whilst i was creating the banner i looked a a few of the following websites to get inspirations, i wanted to create something unique but something that sells. I looked at the following websites, to get ideas for the background and the banner.

| This webpage does not have a obvious banner, this is something i like. I personally don't like the massive bold strips across the page, having a more blended banner suits our image more. |
