Website Draft

To start with I looked at the colour scheme, i played around and went threw many different colour schemes, i chose two in order to show how some are not the correct image. Using dark and plain colours does not fit in with out image, it is boring, plain and very bland. Our image is all about finding yourself and being who you really are using such dull colours is contradicting that and doesn't work. Below i also captured the second colour theme i looked at, using browns and beige is very similar as it is boring and bland however it does fit in more with our colour theme as the video and digi pack both have aspects of wheat fields and nature in them.

After looking through various different colours and combinations i found plain block colours very boring, i wanted to be more adventurous and look into how i could make the website background more intriguing without making it too busy and over crowded. I looked at using various different patterned or pictured backgrounds, i screen captured a few, as shown below;

This pattern background fits in with the theme and image that we are trying to portray however it could be quite hard to write over the top of, this is something that we need to be very careful of.
This is one of my favourite backgrounds, i personally really liked the idea of having a location as the background. The wheat field really fits in with our image as we are using it in the video and it is in a few of our digi pack drafts. When using a image we would have to be careful that it is not too over powering.
This background is also of a location,  there was something about this image that really captured me and i thought it relates to our theme. The birds are flying away, birds are usually seen as a symbol of freedom and the message and image behind our video is about being free and expressing who you are.

As font is important i experimented with the font. Changing the styles and size, here are three different styles that i looked at.

The first is suitable however it is a little plain and boring and and doesn't really say much about our artist.  The second is too girly and is not suitable it does not fit in with the whole image we are trying to sell. The final type face is the best out of the three, it is unusual and abstract, it stands out from the crowd and is the most suitable to go with out image.

Whatever font is chosen will have to be consistent through out the website, digi pack and video (if any text) this is why as a team will we need to come together and decided what one is most interesting, eye-catching and appropriate.

When creating the home page of my website draft i had a idea of how we could incorporate the digi pack we create on to the website. Using different shapes we could have the four images as a banner or just as a main focus on the home page. In order to see if it would work i chose 4 images that sort of linked and placed them on the home page in the way that i imagined;

By looking into what options there are and how much needs to go into a website by doing this task i have learnt that as a team we need to think carefully about each different aspect as when it comes together it will form a final website that we can be proud of. The colour scheme, background, font, images and text is just a small part of it. During the process of making the website we need to make sure we have including all the information that is requires as well as making the presentation and layout eye-catching and appealing.

Arrangements/Permission

In order to use our desired location for our music video in our 'hyper reality' scene, we had to obtain authorised permission from the All Hallows leisure park to use it as a overall location.

Moreover, in order to recieve the permission to use the All Hallows leisure park site as our main location, firstly we contacted Danny's auntie to ask permission if we could use her membership as she owns a caravan on the site. Fortunately, Danny's auntie agreed to our group using her membership on the day, however we had to contact the All Hallows Leisure Park head office to discuss the situation to them and ask for final permission to avoid legal disruption on the day.

Aftet recieving permission from the location authorities and discussing both our timetables, we have arranged the date of Monday the 2nd of December, any time from 11:00 to which we will have the location mainly to ourselves with the exception of the public/visitors of the All Hallows Leisure Park .

Location Description/General Information

The following series of images presents the location that we will be using for our music video for the hyper reality scenes.

The All Hallows Leisure Park location is ideal for our hyper real scenes as our scene is set in a deserted/countryside based land, with Simon strolling through different aspects of the location. For example, in our music video the specific settings consist of a pebbled beach, deserted green land and empty roads which is all involved in the All Hallows Leisure Park.

The deeper message of our music video is about finding your own personality and not being oppressed by the society and surroundings that you are faced with on a daily basis.

Therefore, this location acts out as a major contrast to the previous 'prim and proper' location scene in the music video at Simon's family household.

Whilst Simon's household portrays reality of a highly religous family that Simon is pressured to fit in with, the hyper reality world that Simon unconsciously falls into later relates to our concept's deeper message due to the location's deserted setting, allowing Simon to 'find himself' with no influential surroundings.

Second Location

Full Address
55 The High Street.
Greenhithe
DA9

Arrangements/Permission

Fortunately, the location for our second scenery is set in a house, specifically a introduction scene in a dining room and later on in the disruption of the music video, a bathroom, which is easy for us to access and recieve permission for.

Moreover, we have decided to use my Grandad's bungalow for our general location due to the fact that despite the fact we will have to set dress the location to a certain extent, my Grandad's house has the traditional and antique atmosphere we were hoping to achieve.

Overall, my Grandad is more than happy to give us permission to use the bungalow and the arrangements for the date for using the location are extremely flexible as there is noone currently living there or in use of the property.

Location Description/General Information

The following series of images of the bathroom and the living room are evidence of the location that we will be using for our music video, portraying specifically the 'humdrum' lifestyle that Simon is apart of.

As stated earlier, this location in Greenhithe will be perfect in portraying the old-fashioned imagery that we want "Simon's household' to portray in contrast to the hyper real world we later see.

Moreover, this location is definitely suitable for our introductory scene and flashback bathroom scenes as the sizing of the rooms are of a small size to represent that inclosed atmosphere making Simon feel trappedd in his own home in contrast to his sense of freedom in the hyper real scenes.

Additionally the colouring of the bungalow is extremely bland and basic representing the uniformed life that Simon has been influenced to obey, despite his search for freedom and individuality, creating a clear contrast to Simons realistic world and his desired world.

Due to the highly exaggerated religous and prim and proper lifestyle we want Simon's family household to represent, we will need to set dress the location, specifically the dining room, with religous decor (religous art work, candles, decorations of religous decor, etc) and general uniformed dining essentials (table cloth, dining table, napkins) to produce a trapped lifestyle on Simons behalf.

Digi Pack Draft

I started off my digi pack draft by playing around in Photoshop, i quickly knocked together a front and back cover. When in photoshop i played around with the hue and saturation, this gave the images a more eye-catching and out going look. I ensured that the colour theme was the same through out and the images related.

The idea behind using Simon in both images was to reinforce our image/message. The image we are trying to sell is about freedom and being able to express who you are, the video we are looking to create shows how Simon travels though different locations in order to find himself, i wanted to reflect this in the digi pack.

However whilst creating this i thought of a new but similar idea so i opened up Photoshop and started playing around with the images again.

These is the first front cover that i created in photoshop.
This is the first original back cover that i created.

The idea that i had was to create a hyper real look within the locations, to do this i added pink clouds in the sky, i used photoshop to create this effect.

I used a wheat field as my third image, i then placed lyrics on it from the song that we are using, as a forth image i used one of a poster that was created from the same image as the front cover, these four are shown below.

However looking at these four images together i realised the fourth was out of place and did not fit in so i decided to change it to a more suitable image.

This is my first draft of all four images.
I changed the third image to a location as well this fitted in and looked more appropriate, i placed a CD on this page as this is where is would sit.

This is the final draft i completed.

Asset List

Above is the asset list that was created for our shoot, it includes all of the props that we need to ensure we have. We have chosen these particular props as it reinforces the image and theme that we are trying to portray, the religious decor and posh table settings highlights the image the family are trying to put out. During the second setting we don't have many props only signs and a guitar this is because we are trying to symbolise him finding himself and becoming his own person.

As a group we have figured out who owns what and who will be in charge of each item:
Cutlery, glasses and plates is down to Layla and so is the guitar. Rosie has candles and the drink, wine bottles. Danny will be getting the table cloth and the signs. We will all have to communicate and work together to ensure that we have all the props we need on the day.

Digi Pack draft

This is my first draft for our digi pack, I photographed our artist in a field of wheat, this gave me a good idea to use wheat throughout, I over exposed the photos to make it look more hyper real and look more attractive, I used a quirky font to resemble the quirkiness of our artist. I put a filter over the top and used the wheat image on the back then adjusted the opacity and placed it over the top of the image of our artist.
On our final digi pack we will not use the bottom left photo as it is just repeated from the front cover, we would like to take more photos to have a variety in our digi pack, we tried to keep the theme of warmth throughout the digi pack, the website also matches the theme of our digi pack.

Test Shoot and Evaluation

On Friday 1st November all three of us met at 9am in the car park and then drive to Allhallows as our first location to film for the test footage. The day started off well until we reached our destination and realised that we didn't have a tape, this meant we had the camera, tripod, lights and props but no tape to film with, miles from anywhere to buy one we decided to film it on Rosies iphone 5 as the camera quality is really good, the only problem with this is some shots were shaky and it was difficult to judge how long the shots would be. This is where all our problems started, as we were filming we forgot to make sure that we filmed the whole shot through from beginning of the song to end meaning when we came to editing we found it very difficult to lip sync the music, also we didn't judge how long each shot should be so this made the parts of the video out of time to the song as some shots were longer than they should be, then the day only got worse we realised that Rose only had 10% left of battery so we decided to quicken up and get some more shots done in the long grass. If you'd noticed at the end of the video there is Danny lip syncing to a completely different part of the song, this was because our music player had run out of battery so Danny had to guess whereabouts we were in the song. When editing we decided to test out different colour grading so for the first few seconds of the video the colour grading changes, this is on purpose. Then later in the long grass shots we placed a multiply effect.

Even though a lot went wrong we'd said we rather had the problems now rather than on the real shoot, we have learnt from our mistakes and will ensure we have fully charged technologies and ensure we have all equipment. we will organise the shots better and ensure all the timings are correct and it is filmed the proper way.

Feedback from the shoot saw that people loved the opening shot of the sea and the actor.

Here is our rough cut, test shoot, you will see examples of colour grading and effects.

Rosie, Danny and Layla all took it in turns to use the camera and direct the shots.

Website draft

After looking into different websites and going over the image that we are trying to sell, we come up with a draft website. we created a few pages, although they do not have much information on them it gave us an idea as to what pages where needed and how the layout would look. we included different pages such as; bio, home, gallery, videos, music and news. In order to get the following pages we thought about what really needed to go on the site and compared to existing sites what it relevant and needed.

This is the banner of our website, the background is a very natural environment, the font is bold and eye-catching and is consistent throughout. The picture of Simon (The artist) follows the theme, as he is sitting in a meadow himself.
This page is the gallery. We have uploaded a few images that already exist from social networking and his personal images.
This is the home page, again the background and typography is consistent, the bottom half
of the page changes depending on what navigation link you click on.

Danny set up the site on wix using his account. Rosie and danny sat down together and thought of different themes that would be good for a website. Using nature and a cool colour theme we come up with a first draft.

Animatic

Above is out animatic, we created this from the story board that we drew. Looking at the timings and the beat of the music we put the images together in order to show us what our final video would look like. Creating a animatic allowed us to see if the concept and image we had worked well and was possible.

When drawing the story board there were 65 shots, danny drew the first 20, Rosie drew the next 25, then layla drew the last 20 shots, danny rosie and layla all sat down and took turns editing parts of the animatic and ensuring it was synced.  showing fair EQUAL work.

Shot List

In order to make the shoot easier and more time efficient, we have created a shot list. It includes the shot type, the content of the shot, the location, any props needed and then added effects that we will be adding on when editing. We colour co-ordinated the shots that we will need to film together, we did this so that we could save time and ensure that no shot is missed out.
